RESEARCH CONFIRMS RUFFED GROUSE CAN SURVIVE WEST NILE VIRUS INFECTION

Providing High-Quality Habitat may be our Best Option to Protect Ruffed Grouse by Ashley Peters Bird hunters in Minnesota provided scientists with hundreds of ruffed grouse samples throughout 2018 and 2019. These samples were then tested for active West Nile Virus (WNV) infection and antibodies indicating infection with WNV. Conservation organizations partner with Domtar to improve forest wildlife habitat

In December of 2021, RGS, American Bird Conservancy, and Audubon Mid-Atlantic announced our new partnership with Domtar, a leading paper manufacturer with a plant in Johnsonburg, PA.

An example of how RGS is working with the forest product industry to scale our habitat impacts, the partnership will increase management and habitat improvements on private lands near PA State Game Lands, particularly with landowner cooperators in the PA Game Commission’s Hunter Access program.
