RGS & AWS welcomes Josh Rasmussen to the team as the newest Forest Wildlife Specialist. Born and raised in Wisconsin, Rasmussen earned a B.S. in Forestry Management and Urban Forestry from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. His career history includes being a Project Forester, Arborist and most recently a Forester for the City of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Rasmussen has been involved in a multitude of conservation projects, including working with public and private groups to create Emerald Ash Borer mitigation plans, creating markets for non-traditional forest products and invasive species control for increased habitat.
“My passion is conservation and my greatest job satisfaction comes from working with landowners to achieve their wildlife goals through active forest management,” said Rasmussen.
When he’s not working, Rasmussen enjoys hunting, trapping and fishing on the upper Mississippi River. Rasmussen, his wife and two kids live on a hobby farm in Mondovi, Wisconsin, where they garden, raise a few animals and work on improving a 120-year-old farmstead. Filling a new partnership position, he will be located at the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) office in Whitehall, Wisconsin. Working in collaboration with NRCS staff, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, consulting foresters, partner groups and private landowners, Rasmussen will be promoting active forest management for increased wildlife habitat.
