Oswayo Valley Student Artist Featured at Upland Bird Hunt in the PA Wilds

November 18, 2020 by Mary Hosmer

Zane Malogrino and Jed Hamberger, Superintendent of Oswayo Valley School District show samples of Zane’s custom made wood pieces.

St. Marys, Pa.:  Zane Malogrino of Shinglehouse, Pa., and a student at the Oswayo Valley School District in Potter and eastern McKean Counties, was the featured artist at the 12th Annual Upland Bird Hunt in the PA Wilds on 11/6.  Zane’s fine artwork specializes in laser engraving of wooden “home use” pieces, such as serving trays, hat racks, key racks, coasters, clocks, and bottle openers.

Zane is a senior at the Oswayo Valley School District and has a passion for hands-on work.  Jed Hamberger, Superintendent of the Oswayo Valley School District, said “Zane immediately showed aptitude to learn the laser engraving machine and we encouraged Zane to use his creativity to design pieces of woodwork that could be used in the home. We encourage Zane to learn business skills to develop invoices, set prices, and market his work. We are particularly pleased that the local chapter (Upland Bird Hunt Chapter) of the Ruffed Grouse Society agreed to showcase Zane’s work at the 12th Annual Upland Bird Hunt in the PA Wilds, in St. Marys in November.”

Zane’s work will be available for purchase directly from the Upland Bird Hunt Chapter starting mid-November.  Check out Facebook:  RGS UBH St Marys PA Chapter for more information.

The Ruffed Grouse Society was founded in 1961 to promote and increase awareness of young forest management and to maintain suitable habitat that supports healthy populations of ruffed grouse, woodcock, deer and many songbird species that depend on forest diversity to survive and prosper.
