RGS & AWS is pleased to announce the election of Ben Brettingen to its national board of directors.
An experienced leader in the hunting and conservation community, Brettingen has a passion for upland hunting. His dedication to conserving wildlife habitats will advance RGS & AWS’s mission to create healthy, sustainable forests for wildlife and people.
Hailing from Waconia, Minnesota, Brettingen brings a wealth of knowledge from his career in the hunting and fishing industries. He currently serves as manager of hunt marketing at onX Maps. His career spans roles in print and television production, as well as marketing. He earned a bachelor of science in natural resources management with an emphasis on rangeland ecology from North Dakota State University.
A lifelong upland hunter, Brettingen is deeply committed to conservation. He spends as much time as possible each year pursuing wild birds across the country alongside his five beloved bird dogs. His time in the field has provided him with deep insight into the critical role quality habitat plays in supporting wildlife populations.
“Ruffed grouse and American woodcock, along with bird dogs, double guns and wild places, are my lifeblood,” said Brettingen. “As an avid bird hunter, I’ve witnessed firsthand the essential role quality habitat plays in supporting wildlife populations. In these times of change and uncertainty, it’s more important than ever for our community to come together and drive meaningful progress.
“RGS & AWS is a leading group in the habitat management space, and I’m inspired to contribute my experience to expand the organization’s impact and strengthen our community,” he continued. “Whether you’re a hunter, a bird watcher or simply someone who values wildlife, this is a pivotal moment for conservation. Together, we have the opportunity to ensure a future where our cherished uplands and the wildlife they support flourish for generations to come.”
Ben Jones, president and CEO of RGS & AWS, expressed his enthusiasm for Brettingen’s addition to the board.
“Ben is someone who just ‘gets it’ when the discussion turns to bird dogs, upland hunting and habitat,” Jones said. “His career path also shows that he values the art of communication. Ben has been part of making onX Hunt a household word among hunting families and I look forward to working with him to spread the word about RGS & AWS and our habitat mission.”
