Amelia “Melly” Napper is joining the Northeast region as a Public Lands Forester in Vermont, working in partnership with the Green Mountain National Forest silviculture team. Napper recently graduated from the Yale School of the Environment with a master’s in forestry. During her time at Yale, she focused on building the skills she needed to work as a forester in the Northeast and engage with diverse stakeholders to accomplish their goals related to land conservation and stewardship.
Prior to her master’s, Napper attended Warren Wilson College in western North Carolina, where her studies focused on water resources and the use of geospatial technologies to address issues on the ground. After graduating from Warren Wilson College, Napper worked for an environmental software company as a product manager, developing software for environmental consultants to complete their federal and state regulatory paperwork. She also worked as a biologist and GIS specialist, assisting with wetland delineations and other water resource-related projects.
Napper grew up in rural Alaska. In her free time, she enjoys botanizing, hiking and fiber arts. Learn more about the Northeast region’s work here.
