Request for Proposal: Managing Editor/Magazine Production Coordinator
The Ruffed Grouse Society and American Woodcock Society seek a qualified individual to serve as an independent contractor to oversee production of their quarterly magazine, Covers.
Scope:
Plan, coordinate and manage quarterly publication.
Collaborate with RGS/AWS staff to determine each issue’s content, topics, and staff writing assignments.
Plan and coordinate contributors for each magazine issue, including writers, artists and photographers, managing a paid contribution budget.
Coordinate pagination and overall design with the publication designer.
Schedule and coordinate editorial meetings.
Monitor submissions and cultivate new writers.
Control schedules and enforce deadlines.
Oversee proofreading procedures and edit copy when necessary.
Collaborate with contracted advertising sales representative(s) on paid advertisements, and RGS/AWS staff on in-house advertising needs.
Oversee printing and magazine production contracts.
Direct production and printing of the RGS/AWS annual report, the summary of which is published in Covers Magazine.
