The Upland Bird Hunt Chapter is taking their popular Future Hunters and Handlers Day on the road, partnering with the recently formed Ridge Country Chapter to offer this introduction to ruffed grouse and woodcock hunting and upland bird dog training.
We have a great day planned:
1. Grouse and woodcock habitat identification – Including an optional post-lunch drive
2. Bird dog basics – Gear, breeds, what to expect, training concepts
3. Vet expert – Dr Andrea Loar, Medical Director of CPVets
4. Grouse gear – What you need
5. Intro to GPS – Where am I and how do I get where I’m going?
6. Advanced – Demos, questions and answers for experienced dog handlers
If you’re a first generation hunter or a new bird dog owner who’s looking to spend some quality time in the field, but feel as if it’s daunting to get started, join us on April 20! Our goal is to create a network of hunters willing to impart quality knowledge for anyone looking to get started on this bird dog and upland hunting adventure.
