Grand Rapids and Lakeshore chapters, along with the Michigan DNR, have come together for another habitat project in the Haymarsh State Game Area. This is a new area we are all excited about. The DNR is focusing to increase the grouse and woodcock population, and has recently been doing extensive cutting. For the habitat day, we will be planting fruit-bearing shrubs and some white spruce for winter cover.
Come help us with this exciting new project. Refreshments and lunch provided. Bring shovel, long pants, and rubber boots, as the area can be wet.
Directions from downtown Big Rapids
Take M-20 East across the Muskegon River bridge.
In .2 miles, turn left/east on Colburn Ave./16 Mile.
In 2.8 miles, turn left/north on 165th Ave.
In 3.7 miles, turn right/east on 19 Mile.
Follow 19 east 1.7 miles to meeting location.
