AWS Jersey Shore Chapter Habitat Project Day

May 19 @ 8:00 am - 2:00 pm

EVENT POSTPONED FROM MAY 5 DUE TO WEATHER FORECAST.

The Jersey Shore chapter of the American Woodcock Society in partnership with New Jersey Fish & Wildlife have identified our spring 2024 woodcock habitat project at Prospertown Lake WMA, Monmouth County NJ.

Next steps will be to plant a perimeter of 125 alder trees to a connecting field and create staggered growth edges along the mature treeline. New Jersey Fish & Wildlife will fund the smooth alder seedlings.

The Jersey Shore chapter will contribute by supplying a team of volunteers for the planting of smooth alder seedlings. Following the planting, they will apply seedling protector tubes, bamboo stakes, and wire ties to ensure the protection and growth of the seedlings.

Thank you to Animals & Gardens Unlimited (New Egypt, NJ) for donating to our habitat projects and helping offset costs.

Now all we need is you! Please be advised that compliance with insurance regulations necessitates active membership in either the American Woodcock Society or the Ruffed Grouse Society.
