AWS Jersey Shore Chapter 2025 Woodcock Habitat Project Day

April 27 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Jersey Shore chapter of the American Woodcock Society, in partnership with New Jersey Fish and Wildlife, has identified its spring 2025 woodcock habitat project at Dennis Creek Wildlife Management Area in Cape May County, New Jersey. This will be a continuation of the 2023 project.

Volunteers will revisit the 2023 plantings of northern bayberry seedlings, remove plant protectors, and mark the locations of viable plantings using bamboo stakes and contractor tape.

The next step is to plant alder trees in the same six-acre field in five mowed paths. New Jersey Fish and Wildlife will fund the purchase of smooth alder seedlings.

The Jersey Shore chapter of the American Woodcock Society will provide volunteers to plant the seedlings, purchase seedling protector tubes and apply bamboo stakes and wire ties to protect the seedlings as they mature.

NOW ALL WE NEED IS YOU! Please note that due to insurance regulations, you must be an active member of the American Woodcock Society or the Ruffed Grouse Society to participate.

Registration as a volunteer is REQUIRED.
