Fundraising Events

Primary Fundraising Event vs. Secondary Fundraising Event

The primary fundraising event is the chapter’s highest annual net revenue fundraiser (after expenses) that supports state habitat projects and the overall mission of RGS & AWS. A secondary fundraising event heavily supports the chapter’s reserve fund (reserve funds are explained further in Section Four).

Regardless of event type, fundraising best practices exist. Many factors contribute to hosting a successful fundraising event; not every chapter’s fundraising event is the same. Some events are heavy with merchandise and light on firearms, while some are heavy on firearms and light on merchandise. Some have large silent auctions, while others don’t; some have door prizes and use table prizes, while others don’t. The committee is encouraged to develop new ideas, try new things and determine what works best to maximize fundraising and the local membership base.

Fundraising Event Examples

Banquet, sporting clay shoot, hunt, wild game dinner, outside raffle, pig roast, golf tournament, dog training day, etc. The sky is the limit! Each event requires special considerations. Work closely with your engagement coordinator to strategize and plan successful events.
