Agreement Narrative: Ruffed Grouse Society Great Divide Stewardship Primary Funder: Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest (Stewardship) Location: Great Divide Ranger District, Chequamegon National Forest, Wisconsin Innovation: This is a non-timber short-form stewardship agreement. Through this short-form agreement, the USFS is providing RGS & AWS with Bipartisan Infrastructure (BIL) funding to evaluate and assess no-bid timber sale payment units on the Great Divide Ranger District of the Chequamegon National Forest. Using this funding, RGS & AWS will contract the assessment of no-bid timber sales out to a consulting forestry company. Ruffed Grouse Society & American Woodcock Society Promotes Jared Elm to Wisconsin Conservation Coordinator

RGS & AWS is happy to announce Jared Elm as the new Wisconsin forest conservation coordinator. For six years, Elm has played a vital role in assisting private landowners in the northwest part of the state as a forest wildlife specialist with RGS & AWS. Based out of Spooner, Elm fulfilled his current partnership role with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), where he helped private landowners assemble the contractors, consultants and state and federal partners for their forest habitat management objectives.

AWS Copper Country Chapter Community Forum Birds & Brew

Come, join the Copper Country AWS Chapter and the Keweenaw Community Foundation for a community forum discussing RGS & AWS happenings in the Copper Country! First round’s on us! Seth Finkel, RGS & AWS Western UP Public Lands Project Coordinator will give a presentation discussing habitat work on the Ottawa National Forrest.  We will also be asking for community input for habitat projects in the Houghton area.
