Most were created in the 1970’s through 1990’s, often utilizing logging access routes and intending to be maintained to facilitate both recreational walking traffic and future disbursed timber harvests. Innovation: A classic commercial timber project integrated with forest wildlife habitat, forest health and forest products/ revenue objectives. Through U.S. Forest Service goods-for-services stewardship, the foundational commercial timber project produces patches of aspen age class diversity for forest health and wildlife habitat objectives plus timber revenue.
