Tennessee Grouse Hunters, Speak Up Now About the Pond Mountain Project on the Cherokee National Forest!

Act now and urge the U.S. Forest Service to increase their efforts to create needed habitat for ruffed grouse and American woodcock on the Cherokee National Forest! The Ruffed Grouse Society & American Woodcock Society strongly encourage the USFS to increase the amount of early successional forest being proposed. Appalachian Highlands Chapter Southwest Virginia Appalachian Plateau Habitat Walk

Charlie Mize, RGS & AWS Public Lands Wildlife Forester, will lead exploration and conversation at three different habitat worksites. Attendees will see a past project area, project areas that are underway and a proposed area for work. We will meet at the Bark Camp Recreation Area and leave as a group from there at 9 a.m.

The habitat walk will take an estimated 2-3 hours, participants should dress appropriately for the weather.

Event is weather dependent; you will be notified if we are forced to cancel due to inclement weather.
