Women In Wingshooting Weekend One

We are proud will offer our popular Women’s Introduction to Wingshooting Program at the Mt. Jewett Sportsmen’s Club on July 19-20 and August 23-24. Women’s Introduction to Wingshooting is a course for women and taught by women. On both Saturdays, the course starts at noon and ends at 4 p.m. On both Sundays, the course starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. Attendance is required for both weekends to graduate from the program. Upland Bird Hunt Chapter Habitat Day

The Upland Bird Hunt Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society is calling on volunteers to join a hands-on habitat improvement project at Bunker Hill on Saturday, April 19, at 9 a.m. Volunteers will meet at Clermont Park before heading to the work site. This project is part of the Ruffed Grouse Society’s ongoing efforts to improve habitat for ruffed grouse, woodcock and other wildlife species. Habitat work will include creating early successional forest conditions, including tree planting, and fence repair which are critical for young forest wildlife. Come and enjoy a morning of shooting and lunch with people who care about healthy forests, abundant wildlife, and conservation ethic.

Includes 100 targets, lunch and a chance on a specially-selected shoot prize.

Each shooter will need to bring shells.

Proceeds go toward conservation of forest wildlife and support of the local chapter.

New Eastern Ruffed Grouse Conservation Plan Aims to Restore Populations

The Eastern Grouse Working Group (EGWG), a collective of state and provincial wildlife agency biologists, has developed a strategic plan to guide ruffed grouse recovery in the eastern half of their range. The newly released Eastern Ruffed Grouse Conservation Plan (ERGCP) 2025-2034 outlines critical actions for habitat restoration and conservation efforts over the next decade. While ruffed grouse are non-migratory, their survival depends on large-scale habitat restoration.
