Grand Rapids, Michigan Chapter Woodcock Walk 2026 – 2 Dates!

7:45 -8:00pm: Gather in Prairie Overlook Parking lot.

8:00 – 8:20pm: Discussion on woodcock banding, woodcock biology, migration routes, etc.

8:20 – 8:30pm: Move to watching sites.

8:30 – Dark: Watch and listen to the Sky Dance of woodcock.

  • This is an outside event, please wear weather appropriate clothing and footwear. Viewing sites are approximately 200 yards from the parking lot. A Camp Chair and Binoculars are recommended.
  • Alcohol is prohibited at Luton Park
  • While we love our dogs, we ask that dogs do not attend.

This event is limited to 40 participants.

Grand Rapids Michigan Chapter Brad Bachelder Memorial Youth Hunt – 2026

Registration will include shooting/hunting instructions, warm-up clays, and a guided three-bird hunt and lunch. An orange hat, orange vest, and protective eyewear are required for each hunter.

$35 per hunter, includes 1 year Junior RGS membership

All youths must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
Participation is limited to 18 youths. (12 to 17 years of age)

Grand Rapids Michigan Chapter Annual Banquet 2025

Grand Rapids Michigan and West Michigan Lakeshore Chapters Habitat Day

Haymarsh State Game Area GPS coordinates (43.7452625, -85.3709844) Google maps coordinate PJWH+4J2 Grand Rapids and Lakeshore chapters, along with the Michigan DNR, have come together for another habitat project in the Haymarsh State Game Area. This is a new area we are all excited about. The DNR is focusing to increase the grouse and woodcock population, and has recently been doing extensive cutting. For the habitat day, we will be planting fruit-bearing shrubs and some white spruce for winter cover. Come help us with this exciting new project. Refreshments and lunch provided.
