Gabe Luvara has accepted the position of engagement coordinator for RGS & AWS in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Luvara brings a lifelong passion for the outdoors and conservation to his role. Growing up in West Virginia with rabbit dogs and the good fortune of an uncle who owned a large dairy farm, he developed an early love for upland hunting. He spent his youth chasing rabbits as well as the occasional ruffed grouse and bobwhite quail, and building a deep connection to wild places alongside his family.
As an adult, Luvara transitioned into bird dog training and upland hunting, continuing to spend as much time outdoors as possible. As anyone who knows him well can attest, his bird dogs are rarely far from his side. Luvara and his fiancée, Heather, live outside Pittsburgh, Pa., with their two pointing Labradors, Lucy and Daisy. Whether in the field or the woods, conservation and habitat stewardship have always been central to his life and values.
Before joining RGS & AWS, Luvara spent 23 years as a college football coach at schools ranging from the Division I to Division III level, followed by a year in the athletic fundraising industry. Today, he combines his background in leadership, relationship-building and outdoor advocacy to strengthen engagement and support for the organization’s mission and members.
“We are excited to bring Gabe on board. He will bring fresh, forward-thinking ideas that mesh with the traditions and ethics of our organization, along with strong leadership in the region,” said Tripp Way, senior director of development for RGS & AWS.
Regarding his appointment, Luvara said, “I’m incredibly excited to work for RGS & AWS in a field where I carry a lifelong passion, forest and wildlife conservation and the traditions that connect us to the land.”
