RGS & AWS Joins National “State of the Union” Conservation Panel at POMA Summit

April 30, 2026 by Ruffed Grouse Society

RGS & AWS will take part in a high-level “State of the Union” panel discussion at the upcoming Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA) Summit, bringing a national conservation perspective to the forefront of the outdoor media and industry conversation.

Designed to connect media professionals, brands and conservation leaders, this session will feature some of the most influential voices in wildlife conservation. Representing RGS & AWS, Vice President of Conservation Karl Malcolm will join a panel of leaders from across the conservation community, including:

  • Mike Sidders, Delta Waterfowl
  • Nick Pinizzotto, National Deer Association
  • Patrick Wightman, National Wild Turkey Federation
  • Jared Wiklund, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever
  • James Shin, Safari Club International

This fast-paced panel will deliver concise, high-impact insights into the issues shaping wildlife, habitat and the future of our outdoor traditions. Each organization will share updates on current priorities, challenges and opportunities, offering attendees a clear, national-level view of where conservation stands today – and where it’s headed next.

For RGS & AWS, participation in this conversation reflects a continued commitment to advancing science-based forest management and delivering on-the-ground habitat improvements for ruffed grouse, American woodcock and a wide range of forest wildlife. As policies evolve and conservation demands grow, collaboration across organizations has never been more important.

“The issues and opportunities facing our conservation community today are growing in their significance, complexity and urgency.  Sharing thoughts and comparing ideas that lead to concerted action are valuable investments of time and attention for all of us who care about wildlife, habitat, and our conservation heritage.  I am grateful to my colleagues at POMA for convening this “State of the Union” panel, and I look forward to the sharing and learning that this forum is certain to generate,” said Malcolm.

The session will conclude with an interactive Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to engage directly with panelists and explore topics that matter most to their work and audiences.

And the conversation won’t end when the panel wraps. Attendees are encouraged to carry these discussions into the evening’s wild game dinner and campfire networking – where connections are strengthened and ideas turn into stories, partnerships and action.

Whether you’re a content creator, conservation advocate or industry professional, this is a must-attend session for anyone looking to stay informed and engaged in the future of wildlife conservation.

Join us at the POMA Summit and be part of the conversation. All media and brands in the outdoor space are invited to participate, regardless of membership status with the organization.
