
Chandler Buie is a forestry and conservation leader with 20 years of experience dedicated to sustainable forest management, wildlife habitat and community stewardship across Maine and New England. His career has focused on ensuring working forests remain productive, healthy and resilient while supporting the ecological and economic values that depend on them.
Throughout his career, Buie has managed large-scale forestry and procurement operations, working closely with landowners, contractors, businesses and public agencies to balance responsible resource use with long-term conservation goals. He brings a practical, solutions-oriented approach to forest management informed by hands-on experience in silviculture, infrastructure planning and environmental compliance. His work emphasizes collaboration, transparency and stewardship of the land.
Buie is deeply committed to leadership and service beyond his professional roles. He has served as chair of Maine Tree Farm, president of the Maine Amateur Hockey Association and a trustee of the Washburn Norlands Living History Center. In these positions, he’s helped guide organizations, strengthen partnerships and engage diverse communities around shared goals.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in forestry and an MBA from the University of Maine, combining technical expertise with strategic and organizational insight. Buie is particularly passionate about advancing landscape-scale conservation efforts that bring together landowners, conservation groups, industry partners and communities to ensure healthy forests and wildlife habitat for future generations.
