Orvis Great Giveback Days Fundraiser

August 6, 2024 by Ruffed Grouse Society

Pictured left to right: Orvis Asheville employees Ryan Waldrep and Andrew Kabel, RGS & AWS Southern Appalachian Region Forest Conservation Coordinator Sean Barry and Orvis Asheville employee Susie Lusardi

For two consecutive years, the Southern Appalachian Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society in Asheville, North Carolina, has partnered with the Asheville, North Carolina, Orvis store for the Great Giveback Days fundraiser. Supported by Orvis, these month-long fundraisers give patrons of their neighborhood store the opportunity to donate to local non-profits that work in their area. This event raised $9,501, all of which will support ongoing habitat efforts in North Carolina.

Funds will go towards the Sugar Camp Creek Stewardship Agreement on the Nantahala National Forest and the Armstrong Creek Project Area on the Pisgah National Forest. This partnership does more than just raise money for habitat efforts but also gives people insight into who RGS & AWS is and what we stand for. Being an organization that’s founded in active forest management, interacting with people and providing them information about our organization and the benefits of our work is invaluable.

Thank you to Orvis, the staff of the Asheville store and their passion to share our message and to everyone who donated. Without your support our organization wouldn’t be able to accomplish our goals and mission.

Learn more about habitat projects and open employment opportunities in the Southern Appalachian region of RGS & AWS.
