New York and Vermont Working Lands for Wildlife Foresters

Funding Amount: $5,000 

Project Title: New York and Vermont Working Lands for Wildlife Foresters 

Location: Finger Lakes National Forest, Hector Ranger District, Schuyler County New York.   

Innovation: The Green Mountain and Finger Lakes National Forests have worked with The Ruffed Grouse Society in a variety of ways over the years and plan to continue to do so in the foreseeable future. With the completion of this agreement, the U.S. Forest Service will be able to transfer funding to The Ruffed Grouse Society to complete habitat related work to move towards the desired future conditions of the Green Mountain and Finger Lakes National Forests 

Impact: Duties and tasks to be performed: a. Complete habitat management plans for areas specified via desired projects. b. Utilize network of volunteers to complete habitat projects identified through habitat assessment. c. Support ongoing habitat and species research 2. The location of the project is Finger Lakes NF which is located at 5218 State Route 414 Hector NY 14841 3. Desired outcome: Habitat management plan for 200-acre Chicken Coop Shrubland area.
