The Western Great Lakes region of RGS & AWS is excited to announce Luke Statz as the new regional engagement coordinator. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a degree in natural science education and a minor in biology, Statz brings eight years of experience teaching middle and high school science. His passion for the outdoors and hands-on education shines through his work, including an annual drumming survey field trip on school forest property in collaboration with RGS & AWS biologists.

Luke is eager to transition from the classroom to a new role educating others about the importance of young forest management for species like the ruffed grouse and American woodcock. In his spare time, he enjoys fly fishing for smallmouth and musky and upland hunting with his dogs, Harley and Fievel.
“I’m thrilled to work with the incredible chapters in our region to further our mission of creating and managing quality habitat for ruffed grouse and American woodcock,” Statz shared.
Please join us in welcoming Statz to his new role as he works to foster habitat conservation and engagement throughout the Western Great Lakes region.
