Most of our birds tagged in Nova Scotia this October have remained stationary in the mid-Atlantic states. A lone bird, NS-2024-24, remains in Nova Scotia as of December 24, on the southwestern coast. We hope he’ll make his overwater crossing soon, but he may stay in the province until his GPS unit dies, just like NS-2023-16.
Even more birds from our 2024 Louisiana group have checked in over the last few days, bringing our returning birds total to 13. Of these 13 birds, most returned to within 150km of their capture sites, and 6 are currently within 50km of these sites.
