National Fish and Wildlife Foundation Announces the Ruffed Grouse Society as 2023 Grant Recipient

Pittsburgh, Pa. (February 1, 2023) – The Ruffed Grouse Society & American Woodcock Society (RGS & AWS) was recently awarded nearly $500,000 to continue habitat work in Pennsylvania. The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) announced more than $3.7 million in grants to restore forest and freshwater habitat in central Appalachia, including projects in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia, naming the RGS & AWS as a recipient of funding. Pittsburgh, PA – The Ruffed Grouse Society & American Woodcock Society announced that Lisa Rossi has been promoted to the national Director of Chapter Relations and Fundraising Events, a new position both for Rossi and the organization. Shell Appalachia awards Susquehanna River Valley chapter $25,000 grant for Pennsylvania habitat project

Shell Appalachia has awarded the Susquehanna River Valley chapter a $25,000 grant in support of habitat work in Tioga State Forest designed to benefit wildlife and healthy forest regeneration. The funding will cover the cost of fencing material to protect a 146-acre prescribed fire treatment area on state forest in the Shin Hollow area of Gaines Township, Tioga County. In addition, the grant will be used to purchase brood cover seed mix and seedlings, as well as hard and soft mast seedlings that will be planted within the project area.
