The Women’s Intro to Wingshooting is a course designed to provide women in the region each course is held with outdoor skills, a network resource of like-minded ladies, and a foundation for hunting game birds. The program was developed by RGS and supported by sponsors to promote the future of hunting through recruitment and retention of new upland game hunters
Even if you’re only loosely familiar with the Ruffed Grouse Society, you probably already know that healthy forests are very important for wildlife — and therefore to us. Diverse forest stands help provide the right mix of habitat for the wild birds and mammals that we love to watch and chase. Project on State Game Lands 12 and 36 to benefit grouse and woodcock
Good things come in threes. The third and final phase of the “Roughneck Aspen Management Project” was recently completed on State Game Lands 12 and 36 in Franklin Township, Bradford County.

A Woman’s Program Taught by Women!
Kane Pa.: Have you heard of Women’s Introduction to Wingshooting? It is a national shooting program for women and girls, taught by women. The Ruffed Grouse Society, Allegheny and Upland Bird Hunt Chapters, and the Mt. Jewett Sportsmen’s Club are bringing this national program to Pennsylvania once again this summer. Training will be July 27-28 and August 24-25. Women and girls that finish the shooting course are eligible for an upland bird hunt on September 8.
[Read more…] about National Women’s Shooting Program Offered in North Central PAThe Michigan Ruffed Grouse Society and American Woodcock Society Habitat Committee recently honored the dedication and passion that Al Stewart has for young forest wildlife conservation by presenting him with an award at the Annual RGS State Workshop February 2, 2019. The RGS State Drummer Fund, the only program dedicated solely to ruffed grouse and American woodcock habitat enhancement, has now been named the Al Stewart Drummer Fund. A portion of proceeds from each RGS chapter event go toward the Drummer Fund each year, and partners are invited to submit habitat project proposals which are then reviewed and approved by the Habitat Committee. This program has seen resounding success, and funds were leveraged to fund over $450,000 in wildlife habitat projects in 2018.
